Forging stronger links with Trade Unions through new partnerships Print

Derby Trade Union Education Centre delivered a Union Learning Representatives Stage One Induction course for union members from Unite, UCATT and Unison who are employed by Derby City Council.

The Union Learning Rep course trains members in being an advocate for education and training in the workplace and covers –

 

  • The role of the Union Learning Representative

  • Barriers to Learning

  • Working with Members

  • Organising for Learning

  • Facilities and Support for ULRs

 

The Derby College based Centre welcomed this link with the Unions within Derby City Council and looks forward to more developments in the future.

 

Philip Ditheridge the Centre’s Development Worker said “the course is delivered on behalf of the TUC and helps people understand their role and how they can best carry out their job as a union learning rep”
