I have enrolled on a Learndirect -  Numeracy Level 1 course. I want to progress onto the Level 2 course after that.

How did you find out about the course?

As a USDAW member through a previous role at Tesco’s. I also have a family link with a member of staff at the Centre who told me about the free courses on offer.

What role do you have in your union?

I am a member of USDAW

How did the Learndirect course help you?
When I have achieved my qualifications I am hoping to be accepted on an apprenticeship for business and administration. The qualifications are required for acceptance to that training and by the workplaces also.

Which aspect of the course was the most help?
Meeting Sue, my Tutor who is very helpful, supportive and encouraging. We normally work on a one to one basis. She is very good at explaining things clearly for me meaning I can understand better. I also like the fact that I can work at my own pace from home and do the work online on my computer. 

What motivates you?
Lifelong learning and I am only 19 years old! I think that it is good to update your skills and I find that things that I have learnt I am beginning to use all the time.

Which aspects are you most proud of?
All the courses I attended were challenging, interesting and FREE! It gave me the confidence to progress my education. My Computer skills have improved on the way and I now feel motivated to continue with further study.

What are the rewards and benefits to you?
Longer term I would like to get a job in the educational field.

What next and plans for the future?

I would like to be the boss or a team leader in the workplace because I think that I have the right skills and aptitude

Have a go - don't be put off. Have a life plan and GO FOR IT!

I am into music and singing and would love being involved with that one day! Thinking of applying for Britain’s got Talent TV show also!
