I have been attending the Quantum Centre based on Victory Road for the past few months on a City and Guilds E - quals computer course. The Centre has proved to be excellent because of it’s flexi access, which means I can attend at anytime throughout the week which includes a couple of evenings.
The staff have been friendly and supportive and I can work at my own pace in what is a very pleasant, up to date class environment. The computers and teaching materials are all first class. I can also park my car close to the Centre which is a bonus, and they offer free drinks!
My course assessments are done online (internet) which is a far better way of completing a test and if I fail, I get to have another go!
The reason I joined the course was to build on some of my IT skills and having been made redundant after 25 years service with the City Council’s Adult Learning Service, it has proved to have been worthwhile investing in additional training.
The good news is that I have now been appointed by Derby College as a Development Worker based in the Trade Union Education Learning Centre at the  Prince Charles Avenue campus. My job is to promote learning opportunities to unions, employers, union members and their families. We also offer online computer courses.
If I can help you, do please make contact.
