A Celebration of Learning Event organised by Derby TU Centre – visit and guided tour of Garden Organic Centre – Coventry.The UK's leading organic growing charity for over 50 years and dedicated to researching and promoting organic gardening, farming and food.

 

Ten acres of display gardens are managed entirely organically and all aspects of domestic horticulture are on show,including composting, pest and disease control, fruit and vegetable production,herbs,roses,lawns,shrubberies and herbaceous plantings.

On the day learners were also provided with information and discussion held on how to join UK online courses through the TU Centre. This was valuable to a number of learners who agreed to register. An information pack with details on free online resources for ICT and Skills for Life was also made available.

The visit included a tour Guide who provided a full two hour information based session with interaction from the learners. Some learners agreed to join Garden Organic as a member,including the visit leader!

Feedback from learners was very positive and has inspired them for future learning; this included the children who attended. One stated "much better than i thought it would be"

A valuable learning experience for all.
